Our story
Why we built KartiLink
KartiLink, originally launched as ShaqoGo, was founded in 2022 by Shams Group — a group of young, talented Somalis who believed that finding work should be easier, clearer, and more connected to community. The idea started from a simple problem many Somali job seekers face every day: opportunities are usually shared through scattered WhatsApp messages, Facebook posts, word of mouth, and informal networks. It is hard to find trusted openings in one place.
We built KartiLink to fix that. The platform exists to make job discovery simpler for East Africa and the wider diaspora. It helps job seekers search practical roles, understand opportunities clearly, and apply with more confidence. It also helps employers reach motivated candidates across East Africa and the global diaspora — Minnesota, Nairobi, Mogadishu, Addis Ababa, Kampala, Tanzania, Djibouti, and beyond — without juggling a dozen group chats.
We’re still small, and still building. But the goal hasn’t changed: bring real opportunity into one clean, searchable, trusted place that respects the people who use it.
